PHNOM PENH: the issues of South China Sea will be discussed in the meeting in Phnom Penh this week between the ASEAN officials and China before Cambodia is preparing the ASEAN summit in November.
“As proposed by Cambodia and agreed by all ASEAN member states, Cambodia will host the ASEAN –china senior official’s informal consultations on the code of conduct (COC) in the South China Sea, the statement from foreign ministry said.
It adds: “This is the third time which Cambodia has initiated the meeting on the COC with the view to reduce tensions in the South China Sea and work toward the darting of COC.” The meeting will be held from 12- 15 September 2012 to prepare for the 21 ASEAN summit and related summits to be held in Phnom Penh in November.
