PHNOM PENH: Cambodia will host the 37th world heritage committee in 2013

after the culture committee unanimously decided on July 4, 2012 at Saint Petersburg, Russian federation during the 36th session of the world heritage committee.

The world culture Committee has given great an honor to Cambodia and highly appreciates her thousand years-long civilizations. This contributes significantly to strengthening and promoting the image of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the international stage, a statement from the Cambodian government said.

At the 37th Session of the World Heritage Committee, Cambodia will welcome approximately 800 international delegates, including diplomats and experts in cultural and natural heritage from the world’s five continents, representing the diverse cultures of 189 States Parties to the 1972 Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, among 195 member States of UNESCO.

“This is a universal gathering in which nations of the world converge to discuss and exchange views and experiences, aimed at promoting heritage preservation and sustainable development, and to show respect for heritage of the humanity.” the statement stresses.

Cambodia enlisted ancient temple of Angkor wat, and the ancient temple of Preah Vihear temple with the world heritage committee of UNESCO.
