US donates Fund to Cambodia to fight against Worm disease

PHNOM PENH: USAID offered 700,000 US dollars to Cambodia’s health ministry to fight against tropical diseases. “This fund will support a program on fighting worm disease which could transmit to old people especially children.” Dr. Chor Meng Chuor, head of malaria and communicable diseases said, adding that those worms could cause children to have malnutrition, and make problems for pregnant women and it was found in water sources at in Kratie, Steung Treng and Ratanakiri provinces. But now it reduces from 60 per cent to 4 per cent. Worm- transited children will have big abdomen and liver diseases. And they will face with stunted body, he said, adding that the program will last from 2012-2014. That fund wills hand over to IFH. ###
