The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) in collaboration with Hollywood Cooperation Film Company has conducted the “fi ghting technical sharing show” between an Hollywood fi lm actor and Cambodian coaches and boxers on October 5th at the Nation Stadium Complex in Phnom Penh.
About 100 Cambodians coaches and boxers from different sport subjects such as Khbach Kun Boran Khmer, Boxkator, Karateo-do, Yudo, Aikido, Tai Kwon-do, Kobudo, and Wrestling
have attended the Hollywood Film Star’s fi ghting technical show. The technical fi ghting was showed by Mr. Tony Schiena who is the fi lm star of Hollywood Film Corporation.
Vath Chamroeun, General-Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), and also General-Secretary of the Cambodian Wrestling Federation, said that it marked the fi rst time as the NOCC has organized this event in Cambodia.
He continued to say that the purpose of the event was to exchange the techniques and fi ghting skills between Cambodian veteran coaches and boxers with Hollywood fi lm actor who had
many training experiences and techniques in fi ghting action in the movies.
“I think that this is an important event for Cambodia’s sport to improve our coaches’ and athletes’ capacities and abilities in coaching and fi ghting in Cambodia. It is also to promote good cooperation between Hollywood fi lms Firm and Cambodian’s sport sector in the future,” he told The Southeast Asia Weekly during an interview on October 5th before the event taken place at the National Stadium Complex in Phnom Penh .
He added that during the event, the Hollywood Film actors and managers will also be seeking about Cambodian’s coaches and boxers’ capacities so that they would be chosen for
playing the Hollywood Movie called “Great Khmer Empire” which will be making in 2011 in Cambodia.
Mr. Tony Schiena, fi lm star of the Hollywood Film Corporation, said that it marked for his fi rst time to meet with Cambodian coaches and boxers in sharing his techniques and fi ghting experiences with each other in Phnom Penh.
“I am happy and this is my fi rst time to come and meet with Cambodian coaches and athletes here,” he said. “I hope that with this event we can learn from each and promote cooperation between Cambodia’s sports and Hollywood Film Corporation in the future.”
He added that Cambodian coaches and boxers have qualifi cations and potentiality of fi ghting experiences and coaching but they should further update and improve their fi ghting techniques. According to Mr. Thomas Magyer, Executive Producer of the Hollywood Corporation Film, the Hollywood Corporation Film plans to invest US$ 70 million to make fi lm called “The Great Khmer Empire” which will be started in early 2011 in Cambodia.
He pointed out that the main actors who will be invited to play in this “The Great Khmer Empire” including Mr. John Cena who is a seventime World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Championship will be performed as King Jayavarman VII, Angelina Jolie who is American movie actress will be performed as the Great King’s Wife, Entrak Devi, Jet Li called Lilen Chea, a Chinese Kong Fu action star, will be performed as the Great King’s Commander, and the South Korean movie actress Song Hye Kyo will be performed as the Great King’s Commander’s Wife, and Cambodian famous actors and actresses and boxers will also be selected to play as sub-actors of the movie.
